Dear Ibarra Elementary School Families,

Welcome to another exciting school year at Ibarra Elementary! I hope you and your family have enjoyed a wonderful summer and are ready to embark on a successful academic journey with us.

As we begin this school year, I want to extend a heartfelt invitation for you to be actively involved in our school community. We believe that meaningful family engagement is key to our students' success, and we encourage all parents to volunteer and participate in our school activities. Your partnership and involvement in shared decision-making are essential as we work together to support our students’ growth and development.

At Ibarra Elementary, we are proud of our Community Schools focus, which is designed to enhance student achievement by fostering strong collaborations between our school and families. This approach ensures that we can address the diverse needs of our students and create an environment that promotes their success.

We are also committed to supporting the social and emotional learning of our students. Creating a safe and nurturing classroom environment is our top priority, as it provides the foundation needed for effective learning. Our support for students extends to newcomer classes and specialized academic assistance for students with special needs. We are focused on the science of reading, with every teacher engaged in continuous professional development to master effective literacy instruction. Our emphasis on phonics and phonemic awareness—including letters, sounds, and blends—is critical to ensuring that all students achieve grade-level reading proficiency.

Our Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA) highlights our commitment to literacy and reclassification for multilingual learners. We are dedicated to helping all students become proficient readers and meet their academic goals, which is crucial for their future success, including high school graduation and college and career readiness.
